Mountain goats can be seen on the sheer southern cliffs as you drive
along the Big Wood River from Ketchum/Sun Valley toward Galena Summit.
Black bear, mountain lion, gray wolf and elk inhabit untrailed
drainages throughout the Boulders. The range stretches from Galena
Summit, eastward to Trail Creek Summit and beyond.
Visit this Place:
Trailheads to the Boulder Mountains are located off Highway 75 between
Ketchum and Galena Lodge. Also, from Sun Valley on Trail Creek road 408
and the North Fork Big Lost River canyon road 128. The remote "backside"
of the Boulders is usually accessed from the upper East Fork of the Salmon
River road 120 to West Pass or Bowery Guard Station.
