December, elk have replaced cattle in the lowlands and along the Salmon
River, as winter comes to stay.

Elk are so plentiful in IDFG Game Unit 36, where the Basin Butte pack
lives, that anyone can buy an antlered bull elk tag. In other words, there
is no limit to the number of bull elk tags sold here.
