Basin Butte Pack ~
2006 Story
Continued...
Oblivious
to the controversy in the human world that their presence was causing, the
Basin Butte alphas hunted and fed their five pups. Another adult wolf also
helped. This third adult pack member came to be known as "Uncle". Where he
came from, and if he was related to B171, or the alpha male, is not known.

In August, IDFG decided
to try and trap and radio-collar some more of the Basin Butte wolves.
Traps were set, but no wolves were caught. A large forest fire was burning
several miles away at the time, and while the fire was a spectacular
sight, it posed no threat to the wolves.
