In late
June, the Basin Butte wolves killed a domestic calf near Anderson Creek on
the Stanley Basin Allotment and were in deep trouble.

non-functioning stream where fish cannot survive.

The Stanley Basin
permittees have immense power and influence with Idaho politicians, and
life looked bleak for the wolves. Fortunately, wolf managers chose to give
the new pack a chance and try and haze the wolves out of the area. The
rancher grudgingly agreed. As it happened, BWCC director, Lynne Stone,
lived nearby and volunteered to help.
