Fox Creek Trailhead

Proposal includes a new pedestrian bridge over the Big Wood River north of Ketchum at the Fox Creek confluence, along with a parking lot for up to 25 cars. The bridge would provide access to popular Fox Creek trail network close to Ketchum in the Smoky Mountains. A decision is expected in February 2003.

Comment: If nearby homeowners do not object to this project, we do not object, and it will likely go forward. This trailhead would provide an alternative to Lake Creek, Chocolate Gulch and Oregon Gulch entrance points to Smoky Mountain trails near the Wood River Valley.

Update 2004: Decision signed, construction begins this summer.

Update 2005: The bridge and trailhead parking area is complete. Hikers, mountain bikers and horseman are flocking to this new access into Fox Creek off of Highway 75, near Ketchum.
