
August 2006 - The Potato Fire north of
Stanley on the Challis National Forest was spectacular. It burned in the
upper Basin Creek and Yankee Fork drainages and threatened historic
structures at Bonanza and Custer. Originally it was thought to have
started on Potato Mountain, thus the name.

August 22, 2006 - The Red Mountain Fire
as seen from Highway 21 near Stanley. Elk Mountain and Job Creek are in
the foreground. The fire is about 25 miles away.

August 22, 2006 - Smoke from the Red
Mountain Fire on the Boise Forest drifts over the Cape Horn region west of
Stanley.

September 2006 - Personnel on the Red
Mountain Fire gather around the t-shirt and hat table at Fire Camp eight
miles west of Stanley. The fire was on the Boise National Forest.
