On August 1st, we hiked from the Fourth of July trailhead to the Strawberry Basin Ridge, lunched overlooking Ants Basin and Alabaster Peak, then explored old mine diggings in Strawberry Basin proper.

We saw mountain goats on the crags a good distance away.

Perhaps the next time that BWCC leads an outing to this wonderful, wild place, it will finally be Congressionally-designated wilderness -- that's our goal and we'll keep working towards it.
