Wolves of Idaho Field Trip
(Sawtooth Forest), May 19, 2001
40 people went to Decker Flat to see wolf tracks
and hear wolf experts Carter Niemeyer, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
Boise, and Curt Mack, Nez Perce Tribe wolf recovery program.
The outing
took place during ICLs annual Wild Idaho! conference at Redfish Lake.
Wolves from the Whitehawk Pack were
in the Sawtooth Valley. Through Curts telemetry receiver, we heard
the radio signals from two collared wolves. Carter and Curt provided
information about Idaho wolves and efforts to meet recovery goals.
